Halloumi Fries with Spicy Ketchup

You’ll need

serves 3-4

2 blocks of 460g Halloumi

4 tbsp cornflour

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp smoked paprika 

1 tsp garlic powder 

1 tsp onion powder

 

4 tbsp tomato purée

3 tbsp glucose syrup

100ml water

100ml cider vinegar

4 tbsp light brown sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder


Method

1. Cut the halloumi into chunky fries

2. Mix the cornflour and spices together and then coat the fries tapping off the excess and setting aside on a plate/tray until ready to fry

3. Combine the ketchup ingredients in a pan, mix well and simmer over a low heat for 15 mins before passing through a sieve end leaving to cool

4. Heat vegetable oil to 175c/350f and fry the halloumi for 3/4 mins until golden and crispy.

5. Serve with the spiced ketchup
